New to web browsing? Start here

With a few tips to help you, getting started with web browsing on your mobile phone has never been easier. Check out some of our frequently asked questions.

1. Is there a difference between web browsing the Internet (on computers) and the Mobile Internet?

Yes. Since handset screens are much smaller than computer monitors, more and more websites are adapting and optimizing their sites for mobile phones. Typically, this involves paring down the text and graphics displayed making it easier for you to navigate through the site using your handset. For this reason, a web site on your computer may not look the same as the web site on your mobile phone. While more web sites are being adapted for basic to cutting-edge mobile devices, the devices themselves are also rapidly improving. Newer devices often provide a better Web browsing experience, offering HTML browsers with easy touch screen selection and navigation. All that said, your Web browsing experience is only going to get better. If you had a bad Web browsing experience, we suggest you give it another try.

2. What monthly feature or package do I need to have to use web browsing? How much will it cost me to access a web site from my phone?

For phones:

If you do not add a web browsing feature to your monthly rate plan, you will be charged 10¢ per webpage visited. If you plan on web browsing the Mobile Internet regularly, we recommend you add Unlimited browsing & video streaming1,2 ($15) to your rate plan or subscribe to a package that includes web browsing.
